HOW WE HELP YOU FIND SENIOR CARE

WE ARE WITH YOU THROUGHOUT EVERY STEP OF THE PROCESS

  • Helping you understand the process of finding care. It is common for people to be unfamiliar with the senior care industry when they first start the process of finding care for someone in their life. The most common scenario is someone looking for care for their spouse or a parent. The starting point is either the person needing assistance is at home in the care of a spouse or family member or in the hospital and needs to be discharged to a care facility. The senior care industry is regulated by the Department of Health. They are the ones dictating every step of the process.

  • Obtaining a care assessment. Washington State requires all residents admitted to a care facility to have a written assessment that contains accurate information about the prospective resident’s current needs and preferences. This assessment must include recent medical history, current prescribed medications, medical diagnosis, the amount of assistance needed, food sensitivities and allergies, cognitive status, medical and social history, behaviors, preferences and choices about daily living, sleep habits, etc. The facility owners and representatives are required to read the assessment the give families a quote based on this assessment. Regardless of which home or facility you will pick, you will still need to get this assessment first. Contact us to receive a list of nurse assessors in the area.

  • Touring facilities. Meeting the owners or representatives or the care facilities, the caregiving staff as well as other residents and their family members is a great way to get an impression of the facility and help you decide whether you could see your loved one live there. The tours are a very important part of the process which is why we will accompany you to make sure the owners present their facility accurately, tell you how they operate and how exactly do they ensure the safety and wellbeing of the residents. We will filter out the facilities that are not up to the standards required by the Department of Health and will only show you the ones that have proven to deliver quality care.

  • Getting an accurate monthly rate. A big part of our role is to act as a liaison between you and the care facility. We understand the industry and the market well and the facility owners and representatives are aware of this. Once you tell us which facility you would like to go with, we will negotiate the monthly rate based on the care assessment and current market value of the area ensuring you get an accurate rate.

  • Move in logistics. Next, you will meet with the owners and go over the contract agreement as well as all policies and regulations set in place by the Department of Health to ensure the safety of the resident moving in. Once the contract agreement and policies documents are signed, you are ready to start planning for the move in day.
